21. What is the difference between lager and ale?
B. Yeast
QQ: All beer can be classified as being either a Lager or an Ale. The differences begin during the brewing process. Beer gets defined as a lager or an ale by the type of yeast used in the brew & the temperature at which fermentation takes place. Lagers are brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast, which ferments more slowly and at colder temperatures. Ales are brewed with top-fermenting yeast, which allows for rapid fermentation at warmer temperatures. Lagers and Ales are further divided into several styles of beer depending on the locations in which the brews were produced and the variations in the process of brewing.
22. Why is October a significant month in the beer brewing year?
B. It marks the beginning of the winter brewing season
QQ: Long before modern chemistry and refrigeration made brewing a year-round
industry, the last safe brewing month was March. Though early brewers hadn't identified the microscopic culprits, they knew that summer's warm weather encouraged spoiled beer. So the last batch was stored, or lagered, in the caves around Munich. They worked on that through the summer and when October's cool weather allowed brewing again, "they had a big blowout" to finish off whatever March beer was left. The blowout became an agricultural fair, which eventually coincided with the commemoration of Ludwig I's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and today’s Oktoberfest.
23. What type of wine gets darker as it ages?
A. White wine
QQ: White wine gets darker as it ages while red wine gets lighter.
24. Which U.S. state never ratified the 18th Amendment (which established Prohibition)?
C. Rhode Island
QQ: Rhode Island never ratified the 18 Amendment establishing Prohibition.
25. The body or lightness of whiskey is primarily determined by what?
B. Size of the grain from which it is made
QQ: The body or lightness of whiskey is primarily determined by the size of the grain from which it is made; the larger the grain, the lighter the whiskey. For example, whiskey made from rye, with its small grain size, is bigger or fuller-bodied than is whiskey made from corn, with its large grain size.

1. Unkulunkulu, the supreme god in the Xhosa and Zulu tradition of southern Africa, accidentally brought death to the world because he entrusted the wrong creature with the message to humans that they would not die. What was the creature?
D. Chameleon
QQ: According to myth, Unkulunkulu entrusted the chameleon with taking the message to humans that they would not die. When the chameleon's lazy manner and slow pace angered him, he sent the lizard with a second message announcing the coming of death, which was received before the chameleon arrived. To make up for this, Unkulunkulu instituted marriage as a means for humans to regain immortality through the lives of their children. In the Xhosa and Zulu tradition, the name Unkulunkulu is given to a clan's ancestral founder-figure but, like many primary creator deities in world mythology, the god himself is too distant a figure to be the focus of worship.
2. Who were the Amazons?
B. A race of warlike women
QQ: Amazons, in Greek mythology, a race of warlike women who excluded men from their society. The Amazons occasionally had sexual relations with men of neighboring states, and all male children born to them were either sent to live with their fathers or killed. The girls were trained as archers for war, and the custom of burning off the right breast was practiced to facilitate bending the bow—hence the name Amazon, derived from the Greek word for breastless. In art, however, in which they are frequently represented, they are depicted as beautiful women with no apparent mutilation. Ancient art, such as that on temple friezes, vases, and sarcophagi, usually presents them in battle scenes. According to legend, they were almost constantly at war with Greece and fought other nations as well. According to one version, they were allied with the Trojans, and during the siege of Troy their queen was slain by the Greek warrior Achilles. Some scholars who attribute a historical foundation to the legends identify the country of the Amazons with Scythia or Asia Minor on the shores of the Black Sea.
3. What happens to babies when good fairies go bad?
A. Changelings
QQ: A fairy is known as a diminutive supernatural creature, generally in human form, dwelling in an imaginary region called fairyland. The folk imagination not only conceives of fairyland as a distinct domain, but also imagines fairies as living in everyday surroundings such as hills, trees, and streams and sees fairy rings, fairy tables, and fairy steeds in natural objects. In folklore fairies are generally considered beneficent toward humans. They are sensitive and capricious, however, and often inclined to play pranks; so if their resentment is not to be aroused, they must be spoken well of and always treated with deference. Bad fairies are thought to be responsible for such misfortunes as the bewitching of children, the substitution of ugly fairy babies, known as changelings, for human infants, and the sudden death of cattle.
4. Which body part does NOT belong on a griffin?
C. Claws of a crab
QQ: Griffin, legendary creature, usually represented in literature and art as having the head, beak, and wings of an eagle, the body and legs of a lion, and occasionally a serpent's tail. The griffin seems to have originated in the Middle East, as it is found in the paintings and sculptures of the ancient Babylonians, Assyrians, and Persians. The Romans used the griffin merely for decorative purposes in friezes and on table legs, altars, and candelabra. The griffin motif appeared in early Christian times in the bestiaries, or beast allegories, of St. Basil and St. Ambrose. Stone replicas of griffins frequently served as gargoyles in the Gothic architecture of the late Middle Ages. The griffin is still a familiar device in heraldry and is thought to represent strength and vigilance.
5. What is the only natural enemy of a troll?
C. Sunlight
QQ: In Scandinavian mythology, a Troll is a powerful giant that was an enemy of humans. Trolls lived in caves or in castles on hilltops, robbing and eating any travelers foolish enough to stray into their domain after dark. Huge, hard-skinned, and virtually indestructible, they could only be vanquished by sunlight, which would either turn them to stone or make them explode.
